Top 5 Child Acting Performances

There's a problem when a film needs a child character: It's hard to find good child actors. I don't blame the children, I guess almost always the director or someone else in the production is responsible for how a childs performance turns out. Of course the child has to have some talent too, but I suppose a child needs more direction than an adult actor that has maybe studied acting and are more confident to try new things.
Often the child actors are good, but it seldom happens that they are a big part of what makes the movie great. The following top 5 list proves that child actors can deliver fantastic performances.

  2. I haven't seen #5, but I fully agree with you that #4 and #1 deserve to be on the list. I also enjoyed #2 and #3 though. One I probably would have on this list would be Justin Henry in Kramer vs. Kramer. I'm sure there are a couple of more, but none that I can think of at the moment. Most of the time child actors ruin movies, haha.

    1. Your right about child actors ruining movies often. Actually, that's the reason I made this list :)

  3. If I made a list I would include Haley Joel Osment (The Sixth Sense) and Freddie Highmore (Finding Neverland).

    1. I was thinking about Osment as well, but not sure he'd make a top 5 or not. Still, a good performance. Oh, and another performance I have to mention that I just thought of is the one that Christopher Trueblood gives in The Candy Snatchers. Not that he's very good, but because his character is great. He plays a little mute boy who finds a girl in need of help. But instead of helping her, he tortures her ;)

    2. I thought about Osment too and I would have liked to include him, but I guess he's my number 6. :)

  5. I recommend Monsieur Lazhar for some really great child acting, you can probably still catch it in theatres depending on where you are. Also, the kid from Cinema Paradiso and 400 Blows (thought it's been awhile since I've seen both).
